After you call, you will hear a message saying you have reached the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You will hear hold music while your call is being routed. You will be helped by a skilled, trained crisis worker who will listen to your problems, and will tell you about mental health services in your area. Your call is confidential and free. Operating around the clock, seven days a week, confidential and free of cost, The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable victims to find safety and live lives free of abuse. Callers to the Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) can expect highly trained, experienced advocates to offer compassionate support, crisis intervention information, and referral services in over 170 languages. RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization, and was named one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) in partnership with more than 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country, and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. Online chat available.

The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. Serving the United States, its territories, and Canada, the Hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with professional crisis counselors who, through interpreters, can provide assistance in 170 languages. The hotline offers crisis intervention, information, literature, and referrals to thousands of emergency, social service, and support resources. All calls are confidential.

NCADD Hopeline is open 24 hours/7 days, offers free referral services to persons seeking counseling and/or treatment services for alcohol and drug abuse. Provides persons with the telephone number of the local Council or another agency (whichever is closer to the callers) where they can receive help.

Tuck How Does Trauma Affect Sleep? Trauma is the blanket term for any physically or psychologically damaging experience - and it's sadly common in our society. According to the National Center for PTSD, roughly 60 percent of men, and 50 percent of women, will experience at least one traumatic event during their lifetimes. Trauma can cause a wide range of long-lasting, negative health effects, including insomnia and other sleep-related problems.
